CMA CGM INAUGURATES LARGEST VESSEL

The CMA CGM Group’s largest container ship has entered service on the company’s French Asia Line services.

The CMA CGM Bougainville, which was delivered on August 25, 2015 at the Samsung Heavy Industries shipyard in South Korea, is 400 metres long, 54 metres wide and has a capacity of 18,000 TEUs. It is the largest container vessel ever to sail under the French flag.

 

According to CMA CGM, the ship will carry up to 200,000 tonnes of goods between Europe, the Middle East and Asia, calling at Le Havre every 77 days.

 

The vessel was named after the 18th century French explorer Louis-Antoine de Bougainville, who was captain of the first French official world tour.

 

The CMA CGM Bougainville will call at Shanghai on September 5, 2015, Port Klang on September 13, 2015, Suez on September 15, 2015 and Algeciras on October 1, 2015, arriving at Le Havre on October 5, 2015.
