APL ANNOUNCES NEW EAGLE EXPRESS SERVICE

APL will be launching a service it is calling Eagle Express (EX1), which will be a weekly service connecting North Asia with the US West Coast.

 

The port rotation will be: Qingdao – Shanghai – Busan – Los Angeles – Oakland – Dutch Harbor – Yokohama – Busan – Naha – Qingdao – Shanghai.

 

From the port of Los Angeles, 11 weekly APL rail services will depart to major inland destinations such as Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Memphis and New York.

 

“The Eagle Express service is characterized by a well-formulated network design which will be optimally supported by a dedicated fleet of APL vessels as well as our highly-efficient terminal and rail operations,” said Kenneth Glen, president of APL.

 

Transit time from Shanghai to Los Angeles will be 13 days, and shipment from Dutch Harbor to Yokohama will take seven days, according to APL.A Tuesday arrival in Los Angeles also ensures same-week local cargo availability.

 

“We are committed to adding robustness to the supply chains of our customers,” said Glenn. “Whether it is shipment to the US West Coast or her inland destinations, time-sensitive shippers can now take advantage of the superior transit times and on-time assurance offered by APL’s Eagle Express service.”

 

Six vessels with a capacity of 5,100 TEUs will be deployed on the service, with the first sailing to depart Qingdao on November 1, 2015.
