CATHAY PACIFIC MAKES CHANGES TO CARGO MANAGEMENT TEAM
August 11, 2020

Hong Kong-based Cathay Pacific has announced changes to its cargo management team and appointed Tom Owen as director of cargo.

Cathay Pacific also said Nelson Chin, who was general manager cargo commercial for the past three years, will be appointed as regional general manager for Northeast Asia to be based in Tokyo, Japan.

Owen, meanwhile, has served as part of Cathay Pacific's leadership team as director of people for the past five years. He also held various senior posts both at the airline and at other companies under the Swire Group.

Chin will be succeeded by George Edmunds, who was previously the head of revenue management operations for Cathay's passenger division.

Cathay said the management changes are in line with the carrier's aim to be the “most customer-centric air cargo services provider in the world.”

“I would like to thank Chin for his hard work and dedication as general manager of cargo commercial and recognise his great contributions to our cargo business over the past three years, both in the best and most challenging of times. I am happy that Chin retains involvement with the cargo business and wish him every success in his new role,” said Ronald Lam, chief customer and commercial officer at Cathay Pacific.

“George has held posts in numerous geographies in Swire Group’s shipping business. These experiences stand him in good stead to steer our cargo business to a more digitised future and elevated level of customer responsiveness,” he added.
