NEW CHINA-GERMANY EXPRESS SERVICE STARTS CALLING AT DACHAN BAY TERMINALS
April 11, 2022

A new China Germany Express (CGX) service operated by Hapag-Lloyd started calling at DaChan Bay Terminals on April 9.

The vessel on the maiden voyage of the service departed with a full load of containers heading for Germany.

Fastest transit time

Shenzhen-based DaChan Bay Terminals said in its announcement that as a brand new direct service between China and Germany, the CGX service offers the fastest transit time of 27 days.

The terminal operator noted that the service is a two-port loop product providing an efficient and reliable connection between DaChan Bay and Hamburg on a weekly basis.

It said shippers can also enjoy the intermodal capabilities in DaChan Bay and Hamburg to tap into the markets in the Pearl River Delta as well as Central and Eastern Europe.

"We are glad to launch strategic cooperation with Hapag-Lloyd. The CGX service enhances our European network and provides a new and fast connection between China and Europe for customers. For shippers in the Pearl River Delta, DaChan Bay Terminals offers high productivity and expertise in handling general container cargoes and special cargoes," Brian Yeung, DaChan Bay Terminals' managing director said.

Hapag-Lloyd will deploy eight Panamax vessels on CGX.

CGX calls DaChan Bay Terminals every Friday with a port rotation of DaChan Bay – Hamburg – DaChan Bay.

DaChan Bay noted, however, that CGX service will temporarily change the port call in Germany from Hamburg to Wilhelmshaven from the first sailing until further notice or when the "high yard density in Hamburg stabilizes."
