“Lufthansa Cargo is the leading cargo airline in Europe and has extensive experience in marketing the belly capacities of passenger airlines,” said Oliver Wagner, CEO of Eurowings. “This collaboration will help us make optimum use of the cargo holds on our long-haul jets.”

Eurowings will be the third passenger airline with bellyhold capacity being market by Lufthansa Cargo, after Lufthansa and Austrian Airlines.

“By integrating Eurowings’ belly capacities, the services we provide our customers become all the more attractive,” said Alexis von Hoensbroech, board member of Lufthansa Cargo in charge of product and sales. “Eurowings’ growing network is an ideal complement to our previous connections.”

Lufthansa Cargo currently operates a freighter fleet of five Boeing 777Fs and 12 McDonnell Douglas MD-11Fs.
