According to UPS, Perez joined as an intern in 1990. He has worked in leadership positions in the Information Systems department for the past six years, managing supply chain solutions applications, operational and customer resource management technologies and coordinating activities for several international regions.

Perez succeeds Dave Barnes, chief information and global business services officer, who is retiring after having worked at UPS for 38 years.

“I am honoured to have worked closely with Dave for many years,” said Abney. “Under Dave’s leadership, UPS invested more than US$1 billion each year in technology, leading the company to be recognized as one of the world’s most innovative providers of logistics.”

Barnes joined UPS in St. Louis, Missouri in 1977. He will remain at UPS until June 30, 2016 to ensure a smooth transition, according to the company.
