NINGBO-ZHOUSHAN INTRODUCES SHIP-TO-SHIP LNG BUNKERING
June 16, 2023

The port of Ningbo-Zhoushan in China is set to inaugurate a ship-to-ship LNG refuelling service specifically designed for international voyages. The inaugural delivery will be made to a CMA CGM containership, marking an important milestone in the port's efforts to provide efficient and sustainable fueling solutions.

The launch of this innovative service marks a significant advancement in LNG bunkering within the bonded zone of Ningbo-Zhoushan port. Recently, the world's largest LNG carrier and refuelling vessel, Haiyang Shiyou 301, successfully conducted its maiden ship-to-ship LNG refuelling operation at the Meishan port area of Ningbo-Zhoushan port.

This historic event took place to refuel CMA CGM Unity.

The Haiyang Shiyou 301, a 30,000 cubic meter LNG carrier owned by CNOOC, with dimensions of 184.7 meters in length and 28.1 meters in width, has the capability to provide LNG bunkering services simultaneously to two LNG-powered vessels.

Ningbo-Zhoushan, recognized as a global leader in cargo handling and the third largest container handling port, boasts tremendous potential for refuelling international voyages, as stated by the port authorities.

With the introduction of this new service, Ningbo-Zhoushan port has now become the third prominent LNG bunkering hub for international voyages, following the footsteps of Shanghai port and Yantian port.
