ASIAN SHIPOWNERS’ ASSOCIATION NAMES NEW CHAIRMAN

The Asian Shipowners’ Association (ASA) has appointed Angad Banga of the Caravel Group as its new chairman.

 

He was also elected as the new chairman of the Hong Kong Shipowners Association (HKSOA) on November 22.

 

Banga will take over both roles from Wellington Koo, the outgoing chairman of ASA.

 

Koo, of the Valles Steamship Co., Ltd,  also stepped down after completing his two-year term as chairman of the HKSOA — transferring the realms to Banga.

 

"Banga will bring a wealth of experience and leadership to this pivotal role, and his tenure is anticipated to propel ASA to new heights in the maritime industry," the announcement said.

 

In accepting his new role, Banga said he is "honoured to have the opportunity to lead ASA during this transformative period in the maritime sector."

 

"The challenges we face are significant, but so are the opportunities. Together, with the collective strength of our members, we will chart a course towards sustainable growth, technological advancement, and enhanced collaboration with in the Asian and the global shipping community," Banga added.

 

Banga's tenure as chairman of ASA will come to an end on the day of ASA's next AGM to be held in Hong Kong on May 28, 2024.
