January 14, 2026

Berli Jucker Logistics (BJL), under the BJC Big C Group, and DHL Supply Chain (Thailand) has announced the formation of a joint venture company aiming to upgrade the group's logistics operations to global standards and accelerate growth in high-potential healthcare markets.

The partnership combines BJC Big C's local footprint and healthcare experience with DHL's global supply chain operations. Kenny Thai has been named chief executive of the joint venture, which will draw on a combined workforce of about 2,500 from both companies.

The joint venture will focus on delivering specialized, compliant logistics solutions for Thailand's fast-growing healthcare sector, which is projected to reach THB 645 billion (approximately US$20.49 billion) by 2030.

"By integrating DHL's global healthcare logistics standards with BJC Healthcare's deep understanding of Thailand's regulatory landscape and clinical environment, the company aims to set new benchmarks for quality and reliability, thereby supporting Thailand's ambition to become a regional medical hub," the announcement said.

DHL Supply Chain will contribute advanced logistics capabilities, including warehouse automation, Operations Management System (OMS), and real-time tracking systems, to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and end-to-end visibility across healthcare supply chains.

Sustainability will also be embedded across operations, from facilities to transportation, in line with DHL Group and BJC Big C Group's ambition to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The joint venture company will adopt internationally recognized sustainable logistics practices that support both global and national climate goals.

The joint venture will provide end‑to‑end healthcare logistics through temperature‑controlled infrastructure, a trained workforce combining DHL’s global standards with BJC’s local expertise, and compliance systems aligned with Thai FDA, GDP and GMP requirements.

Thailand as regional medical hub

Aligned with Thailand's healthcare priorities, the joint venture will also improve access to quality medicines nationwide and strengthen the country's position as a regional medical hub.

Drawing on BJC Healthcare's network of more than 1,200 hospitals, 2,600 clinics and 4,600 pharmacies, together with DHL's global distribution experience, the joint venture aims to extend healthcare logistics services beyond major cities to communities across Thailand.

"This partnership represents a significant milestone for BJC as we strengthen our position in Thailand's high-growth healthcare logistics sector. By partnering with DHL, a global logistics leader, we are creating a powerful competitive edge in this fast-expanding sector," said Thapanee Techajareonvikul, CEO and president of BJC.

"This collaboration enables us to expand our customer base with international clients and deliver world-class solutions that support Thailand's evolving healthcare needs."

Techajareonvikul noted that as Thailand moves toward an aging society, the company sees growing demand for healthcare logistics that emphasize trust, regulatory compliance and clinical awareness, not just operational efficiency.

"This joint venture enables us to serve our country's healthcare sector with the quality, reliability, and regulatory compliance that patients and healthcare providers deserve, while positioning Thailand as a regional medical hub with global logistics standards," she said.

Kenny Thai, CEO of the joint venture company, noted that Thailand’s healthcare sector is growing faster than other sectors in the economy, and the joint venture is a "timely step" to strengthen the foundation that supports it.

"Our focus is on execution and outcomes. This joint venture allows us to enhance healthcare supply chains in Thailand to be faster, more reliable and fully compliant at scale," he said, adding that the partners are also investing in automation, skilled team members and quality systems that reduce risk and improve access to medicine nationwide.

"Beyond efficiency, our goal is to build trust with healthcare providers and patients by delivering consistent healthcare-grade logistics that supports Thailand's long-term healthcare and economic development. By combining our global expertise with BJC's strong local presence, we can offer healthcare companies and distributors in Thailand a truly world-class healthcare logistics," Thai added.

Steve Walker, chief executive officer of DHL Supply Chain Thailand Cluster, commented that the joint venture represents a pivotal moment for Thailand's healthcare ecosystem and reflects DHL's unwavering commitment to the country's future as a regional medical hub.

"We're seeing fundamental shifts in healthcare supply chains—aging populations across Asia, the rise of precision medicine, increasing regulatory sophistication, and growing expectations for sustainability and transparency."

"As healthcare becomes more complex, Thailand needs logistics infrastructure that can compete on a global stage. By combining our two decades of partnership experience with BJC Big C with our global healthcare logistics expertise, we're creating a new benchmark not only for Thailand, but for the region. This partnership positions Thailand at the forefront of healthcare logistics excellence in Southeast Asia," Walker added.
