DHL Express has announced that it is planning to increase its investments in infrastructure and services in Thailand to 180 million baht (US$5.3 million) for 2015.
“Our major strategic initiatives in Thailand are aligned with Deutsche Post DHL Group's Strategy 2020, which aims to define the group's next phase of development,” said Yasmin Aladad Khan, senior vice president of DHL Express for South East Asia and South Asia. “With the vision of becoming a company that defines the logistics industry, we believe our investments in facilities, network and people in a growth market like Thailand will enable us to not only lead the industry but become a provider of choice. This robust investment also reflects DHL's confidence in the long term stability of the Thai economy and logistics sector.”
As part of this new investment, DHL Express Thailand’s head office will be relocated, DHL Service Points will be expanded, and a new Service Center will be set up, according to a statement.
This investment is the latest in a series of expansion initiatives that DHL Express has been carrying out throughout Asia, such as an €85 million (US$92.8 million) investment in its South Asia Hub in Singapore, the construction of a €153 million (US$167 million) North Asia Hub in Shanghai, a €67 million (US$73.2 million) gateway in Tokyo and a €8.9 million (US$9.7 million) South Service Center and country office in Ho Chi Minh City.
