SINGAPORE-FLAGGED CONTAINER VESSEL STRUCK BY PROJECTILES IN THE GULF OF ADEN

On July 19, at about 10.30 a.m. (Singapore Time), the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) was informed by the manager of the Singapore-flagged container vessel LOBIVIA that the vessel had been struck by unidentified projectiles while transiting the Gulf of Aden.

This is the latest in a series of attacks on commercial vessels at the Red Sea.

MPA said the resulting fire onboard had been extinguished by the crew and all crew are accounted for and are safe.

It added that there are no Singaporeans onboard.

"LOBIVIA is moving under her own propulsion and has arrived at Berbera Port, Somalia, to assess the damage and repairs needed," MPA said in the update.

It added that MPA is also in contact with the vessel manager to provide any assistance required.

"The Republic of Singapore Navy's Information Fusion Centre has alerted its security partners in the Gulf of Aden region to provide any assistance required," MPA added.
