Qantas Freight is expanding its freighter operation in China with the announcement of a new freighter service from Sydney to Shanghai later this month.
The subsidiary company of Australia's largest airline, Qantas, responsible for air cargo operations of the Qantas Group, said it will start the new direct A332P2F freighter services between Sydney and Shanghai on June 26, 2025.
The twice-weekly services depart on Thursdays and Saturdays, which will mark the first time regular Red Tail A330 freighter flights will operate between these two major cargo hubs, providing increased capacity for Australian exporters to access China’s busiest cargo port.
Qantas Freight said flights have been timed to enable connections from other Australian ports, providing more opportunities for Australian producers across the country to uplift their goods onto our international freighter services.
Qantas Freight operates a broad international freighter network, including A330F services from Sydney and Perth to Hong Kong, and A321F flights connecting Melbourne and Sydney with Auckland and Christchurch.
Its long-haul operations include two Boeing 747F loops: one routing through Chongqing, Shanghai, Anchorage, Chicago, Los Angeles, Honolulu, and Auckland; the other via Bangkok, Shanghai, Anchorage, New York JFK, Chicago, Los Angeles, and Honolulu. On Saturdays, the second loop swaps Los Angeles for Dallas-Fort Worth and adds a stop in Melbourne.
