The new flight is operated by a Boeing 777-300ER, capable of carrying more than 40 LD3 containers.

“Hong Kong is a premium market as well as the world’s largest cargo market,” said Art Torno, senior vice president of international and cargo. “Deploying the 777-300ER, our largest aircraft on the HKG-LAX route is the best option for both our passenger and cargo needs.”

According to AA, customers in Hong Kong can now connect through Los Angeles to more than 200 destinations in North America and Latin America, and have direct access to fresh goods and produce.

The US and connecting markets will also be able to take advantage of access to Asian commodities such as mechanical parts, garments and electronics.

“American continues to build a great network in Asia and the Pacific,” said Keijiro Ishii, managing director of cargo sales in Asia. “Recently, we also started service to Tokyo-Haneda and Auckland. Demand for our cargo services is strong, not just to our hubs in the United States, but throughout our unrivalled network in Latin America.”

AA’s GSA in Hong Kong is Antares International and is handled by HACTL.

AA already operates a daily 777-300ER flight between Dallas/Fort Worth and Hong Kong which was launched in 2014.
