The new facility was purpose-built to cater to a full range of pharmaceutical products, according to American. It occupies an area of 2,325m2 and is staffed or monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The facility consists of a number of different zones, including a 560m2 area for shipments to be kept between 15°C and 25°C, a 280m2 refrigerated area kept between 2°C and 8°C, a deep frozen area for shipments requiring -10°C to -20°C, and an active container management area which has charging stations capable of simultaneously recharging more than 30 RKN containers.

American also has controlled room temperature facilities maintaining a temperature range of 15°C to 25°C at several major locations such as Chicago, Dallas, London, Miami, New York and San Juan.
