SWISS WORLDCARGO ACCELERATES ADOPTION OF E-AWB
September 29, 2015

The cargo division of Swiss International Air Lines has rolled out IATA’s “Single Process” electronic air waybills for shipments in Copenhagen, Los Angeles, Montreal, New York JFK and Zurich, after a four-month pilot phase.

The process simplifies the use of e-AWBs for freight forwarders because they do not need to submit a paper AWB to the airline, even on trade lanes where one is required.

“Our adoption of the e-AWB Single Process at Swiss WorldCargo is thanks to the collaborative efforts of our ground-handling partners Cargologic, Swissport and Lufthansa Handling and – during the pilot phase – our customers Panalpina, Brinks, Unitrans, Schenker and Malca Amit,” said Paolo Tuzzi, manager of transportation processes and e-AWB project lead at Swiss WorldCargo.

The process will be extended to six to eight more stations by the end of 2015, and to further destinations in the Swiss network during 2016, according to the carrier.
