FRANKFURT AIRPORT RECORDS CARGO GROWTH IN SEPTEMBER
October 13, 2023

Frankfurt Airport (FRA) saw another month of cargo volume increase in September as recovery continues in Europe's busiest air cargo hub.

The airport reported that air cargo throughput —  comprising airfreight and airmail — in Frankfurt reached 163,687 metric tons in September, up 1.3% year-on-year.

Month-on-month, last month's air freight volumes were also higher than the 156,827 metric tons seen in August. This is, however, slightly lower than the 164,503 metric tons recorded in July and the 160,047 metric tonnes recorded in June.

For September, Frankfurt Airport said aircraft movements climbed by 16.0% year-on-year to 39,653 takeoffs and landings.

Maximum takeoff weights (MTOWs) also rose by 13.1% year-on-year to around 2.5 million metric tons in the reporting month.

In June, FRA,  which operates Frankfurt Airport, said the slowdown in cargo traffic last month reflected the overall economic slowdown.
