Canadian Pacific and Kansas City Southern’s merger became reality on September 15, 2021, when rival KCS suitor Canadian National abandoned its pursuit. The combined rail carrier will be the first with a network spanning the United States, Canada and Mexico; it will have more than 20,000 miles of track.
